Powercrete J is sold in 2# kits, 4# kits, 10# kits --- and custom sizes as needed.


     Anytime you are working with epoxies, it is important for your crews to know what the expected coverage is.  Though all epoxies are going to experience waste, having a plan on the way into the project will almost certainly keep that wastage factor as low as possible.  

     Looking at the coverage charts; we are generally looking at the pipe size -- and the mil thickness requirements -- and then we are offering a "X pounds per linear foot" number which would often correlate to one foot being the coverage required on a single field joint.  See below examples for various pipe sizes if the required mil thickness is 40 mils.  For a full chart (showing multiple thickness requirements) please email me at steve@jsicoatings.com and I will get back to you quickly.

     For the sake of this post, we are looking at the following question:

When working with Powercrete J, what sort of coverage (per pound) to I get if I'm shooting for a 30 mil thick coating (which theoretically meets the end user coating thickness specification under this scenario).

So reported here:  How many pounds of Powercrete J are needed to coat 1 linear foot of pipe at 30 mils?

2" OD Pipe - .28 Pounds of Powercrete J per linear foot

To explain this a bit further - if I wanted to coat 4 linear feet of 2" pipe with Powercrete J - and I'm planning to coat at 30 mil thickness - I will need at least 1.12 pounds of material (so I would be buying a 2# Powercrete J Kit).

In all of these cases, it is important to note that these calculations are "perfect world" calculations.  In the world of two part epoxies (no matter who makes it) it is rare to recreate a perfect world out in the field; so it is always smart to plan to miss optimal usage goals. 

For pipe sizes other than are listed here; fairly easy to figure out!  Give me a call or shoot me an email and I can help you.  If the spec you are working from requires something other than 30 mils (as an example - using Powercrete J on a directional drill or road bore can often require 60 mils of thickness) then those figures can be extrapolated as well.
