ScarGuard Abrasion Resistant Overcoat (ARO)

 Scarguard Abrasion Resistant Overcoat

Scarguard
ScarGuard adding an ARO to a length of pipe

ScarGuard is a composite fiberglass fabric material that has been pre-impregnated with a high performance flexible resin.  This resin is activated by water and offer a very fast cure time once that water has been introduce.  When fully installed (and cured) ScarGuard offers a pipeline excellent abrasion resistance on top of factory or field applied coatings.  Many end users are requesting their entire line be coated with ScarGuard prior to directional drilling and road bore applications.

It is important to note:  ScarGuard is not a stand alone "coating" it is simply added physical protection for plant and field applied coatings of all varieties.

ScarGuard is excellent at protecting your pipe from gouges and other coating damage during a pull through.  The material is very tough and has excellent abrasion resistance.

Powershield XT Glass Fiber Outer Wrap - Powercrete

Powercrete Powershield XT

Glass Fiber Outer Wrap

Powercrete Powershield
Powershield XT being installed over Powercrete R65/F1
Powercrete Powershield XT is a woven, bi-axial glass outer wrap.  Powershield is pre-impregnated with a solvent free moisture curing polyurethane resin.  Powershield XT is used as a rigid mechanical abrasion and impact resistant layer over pipeline steel surfaces.  Powershield XT does not act as a corrosion resistant or prevention coating; it acts as an added physical protection for those corrosion prevention coatings.

Powershield XT can be applied in various thicknesses depending on the mechanical resistance desired according to engineers specifications.  It is supplied in rolls in 4", 6" and 8" widths.

When the Powershield XT has cured in place (it cures after exposure to water) it forms a hard shell with a smooth surface which is highly resistant to mechanical damage, chemicals, weather and soil stresses.  If used above ground, a UV reflective top coat is recommended to avoid discoloration.

Features of the Powershield XT:
  • Excellent abrasion, impact and indentation resistance
  • Wide temperature range during application and while in service
  • High performance in many, many environments
  • Cures quickly and completely
  • No field mixing required - only water
